People ask me all the time why I help the homeless, mentally ill, drug addicts. They ask why I even give a sh*t about these “losers” who have obviously “chosen” to live the life they live. Ironically, these people questioning me are many of the same people who quote Jesus, Gandhi and other spiritual leaders on Facebook.
So, why I have I chosen to spend my life helping these “undeserving” people?

Because – they are my brothers and sisters. They are human beings just like me. It is true that people make choices on how they deal with life, but until we walk in their shoes…
Just like some of us have chosen to secretly overeat, be assh*les to others, hit their spouses, belittle their children. The homeless, severely mentally ill and drug addicted are people. People that need love, a hug, someone to listen, someone to care.
Some of the most beautiful, interesting, loyal, witty, brilliant, talented and caring people I have ever met have been among these folks. I am honored and humbled to be able to serve them as best I can. I pray every day that they get something valuable from my presence. because I always receive way more back in return.
